From a temperature perspective, the ideal storage temperature should be kept between 5 degrees Celsius and 25 degrees Celsius. Within this range, PET materials can maintain their physical properties and chemical stability. High temperature environments will accelerate the aging of PET, resulting in increased molecular chain movement, which will soften, deform, and even cause adhesion of the material, seriously affecting the shape and performance of the cup. In addition, excessively high temperatures may also cause the migration or decomposition of certain additives in PET, releasing odors or harmful substances, which will affect the quality and safety of beverages. Relatively speaking, although low temperatures will not cause immediate obvious damage to PET cups, the toughness and impact resistance of the material will significantly decrease in a long-term low temperature environment, increasing the risk of rupture.
Humidity is another key factor. The storage environment should be kept dry and the relative humidity should be controlled within an appropriate range. Excessive humidity will cause PET cups to absorb moisture, the surface will become wet, and may even cause mold. A humid environment is also prone to breeding bacteria and microorganisms, which will adhere to the surface of the cup, contaminate the beverage, and threaten the health of consumers. At the same time, excessive humidity will also affect the printing quality, causing the patterns and text on the cup to be blurred, thereby damaging the appearance and brand image of the product.
Lighting conditions should also not be ignored. Disposable PET cups should avoid long-term exposure to direct sunlight. Ultraviolet rays in sunlight can trigger photooxidation reactions, causing the PET material to gradually age and turn yellow, reducing its transparency and gloss. Long-term exposure to ultraviolet rays may also destroy the molecular structure of PET, reduce its mechanical properties, and make the cup more prone to breakage. Therefore, during storage, a storage place with good light-shielding properties should be selected, or covered with light-shielding materials to protect the PET cup from light.
In addition, the cleanliness of the storage environment is equally important. Dust, impurities and other contaminants may adhere to the surface of the PET cup, affecting the hygiene of the product. If there are odorous substances in the storage environment, these odors may be adsorbed by the PET material, causing the cup to have an odor, which in turn affects the taste and quality of the beverage. Therefore, keeping the storage environment clean and odor-free is an important part of ensuring product quality.
